Effective July 24, 2026
These terms cover your use of Notes — the outliner at notes.kiteware.com and the Notes iOS app. They're short because the product is small and yours.
Notes is a personal, single-user outliner: you sign up with an email address and a password, and you get a private outline that syncs across your devices. Notes is provided free of charge, as-is, by a solo, open-source project.
Everything you write in Notes remains yours. We claim no ownership of and no license to your content beyond what's technically necessary to store it, index it for your own search, and show it back to you. You can export it (plain text or JSON) or permanently delete it at any time — see the Privacy Policy.
Don't use Notes to break the law, to store content you have no right to hold, or to attack the service itself (probing, scraping other accounts, or disrupting availability). That's it.
Notes is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. It's a solo-run service: there is no SLA, and downtime or data loss, while worked hard against, can happen. Export regularly if your outline matters to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator's total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid for it — which is zero.
You can stop using Notes and delete your account at any time. The operator may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or endanger the service, and may discontinue the service with reasonable notice, during which export remains available.
If these terms change, the effective date above will change with it. Material changes will be noted in the project's release notes. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
